Bethel Woman Charged with DUI, Risk of Injury

She was driving drunk with a minor in her car, police said.

A 38-year-old Bethel woman was charged with driving under the influence, following too closely and risk of injury to a minor following an April 3 motor vehicle accident on Danbury Road.

According to police, Kimberly Layden hit a car from behind at 11:04 p.m. Upon investigation, police determined her to be under the influence of alcohol. She had a passenger under 18-years-old in her car as well.

Police said Layden’s blood alcohol content was .24, three times the legal limit.

She was released on a promise to appear in court April 15.

A 16-year-old female was charged with possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop on River Road, near Old Ridgefield Road, on March 27. She was formerly charged April 3.

The juvenile was released on a promise to appear in juvenile court April 16.
