Five Car Burglaries Reported in Wilton Monday

The cars were parked at businesses in the northern end of town.

Five burglaries from cars parked in Wilton were reported in town Monday.

Police said between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., vehicles parked at Caraluzzi’s, the YMCA, Four Seasons Racquet Club and the Wilton Sports Center were entered. Police believe the burglaries were related. The culprit allegedly smashed windows of the cars to gain access.

A 2007 Dodge Charger parked at the YMCA had a MacBook and iPad stolen from it. The driver also reported credit cards missing from his wallet.

The Y sent out an email blast warning its members of the burglaries.

"Please lock your car and leave all valuable items in your trunk and out of sight," the blast said. "If you are carrying something of real value, please lock it in the mini-lockers available in the front lobby or fitness center."

Cars parked at Four Seasons and the Wilton Sports Center had purses and various Apple products stolen from them.

Captain John Lynch said these kinds of things have happened in town before.
