Hit-And-Run, Sports Gear Stolen: Wilton Police

The Wilton Police Department is looking for the public's assistance in their investigation of a theft and a hit-and-run.

WILTON, CT — The Wilton Police Department is looking for the public's assistance in their investigation of a theft and a hit-and-run.

Shortly after 9 a.m. on June 16 the police received a complaint about sports equipment stolen from the Comstock Community Center located at 180 School Road in Wilton.

The Wilton Parks and Recreation Department reported to the police that during the overnight hours on June 11, large blue and white protective padding was stolen from the rear basketball courts of Comstock Community Center. These pads are distinctive in that they are blue with the word "WILTON" written in large white lettering. The pads are usually fastened to a pole supporting basketball hoops to protect athletes from injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this theft is urged to contact Wilton Police Officer Gelineau #44 at 203-834-6260. Reference case #21-5737.

On June 20 at approximately 1:18 in the afternoon, a 40-year-old man in a 2016 Gray Mazda CX9 was stopped at a red light at the intersection of School Road and Danbury Road was struck in the rear by another motorist.

The second motorist was driving a green Chevy Colorado mid-size pickup with an unknown plate.

According to police, the driver of the pickup did not stop and fled southbound on Danbury Road, making a right onto Ridgefield Road. Police reckon that the pickup should still have damage on the front driver's side. No injuries were reported.
