Lecture Series: Violence in Society

In the wake of tragedies like Sandy Hook, how can adults talk to children about violence in society?

In conjunction with the Wilton Interfaith Action Committee and the Wilton Library, the Wilton Clergy Association is hosting a three-part lecture series which aims to find long-term answers and solutions to violence in society. The three lectures are as follows:

• March 5: Creating a Common Space in Community Where Issues of Violence Can Be Addressed — speakers will be Dr. Steven Marans, Harris Professor in the Yale Child Study Center and Director of the Trauma Service of the Yale Medical Group, and Carrie Epstein, MSW, Assistant Clinical Professor in the Yale Child Study Center. 
• March 12: Shaping Perspectives: Police and the Broadcast Media - What Potential Shooters and the Public Observe — speakers will be News 12 News Director/Anchor Tom Appleby, Redding Police Chief Doug Fuchs (Newtown first responder) and Wilton Police Captain John Lynch. 
• March 19: Finding a Way Forward — speakers will be Rabbi Leah Cohen of Temple B'nai Chaim, the Rev. Mary Grace Williams, Rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, and Imam Dr. Kareem Adeeb of the Islamic Institute and Chair of the Interfaith Council of Western Connecticut.

Each lecture will begin at 7 p.m. and run until approximately 8:30 p.m. The lectures are free.
