In Memory of Mary Alice Michael, of Wilton
The Wilton woman studied classical piano and composition at the Julliard School of Music in Manhattan.

WILTON, CT — Mary Alice Michael of Wilton, Connecticut, formerly of Norwalk, passed away on November 14, 2016. Mary Alice was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert Glenn and Gwendolyn Crosen. Mary Alice graduated from Easton High School, attended Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA and studied classical piano and composition at the Julliard School of Music in Manhattan. She served as a head teacher in the nursery-kindergarten department, and children’s chapel organist, at the Riverside Church in New York City, and was a bank branch manager for the Union Trust Company in Norwalk and New Canaan, Connecticut.
After retirement from banking Mary Alice worked for many years at the front counter of Weed and Duryea in New Canaan. She was a member of the Beta Circle of the First Congregational Church on the Green in Norwalk, a member of the Alcoholism Council in Westport, and an active member and officer of the Norwalk Evening Women’s Club, chairing the annual Heart Ball, serving as treasurer, and winning many ribbons in their annual art competition. She was pre-deceased by her husband Keith Velander Michael.
Mary Alice is fondly remembered by her son John Michael of New Canaan, daughter Alison Markiewicz and husband Henry, also of New Canaan, grandchildren Jessica Michael, Shannon and Kim Michael, Dylan and Emma Michael, Jasmine and Joseph Sforza,Thomas Michael, Ian Markiewicz, Adam Markiewicz, and Rebecca Markiewicz and great grandchildren Hunter and Taylor Sforza and Braden and Riley Michael.

A funeral service was held on Saturday November 19, 2016 at the First Congregational Church, 3 Lewis Street on the Green in Norwalk. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
