Mentoring is A New Venture for Wilton High School Students

Student leaders in Wilton for Role Model Mentors, a start-up mentoring company based in Ridgefield, recently launched a Wilton chapter.

WILTON, CT — Role Model Mentors, a Ridgefield-based company, recently launched a new chapter in Wilton, with the help of young entrepreneurs and more than thirty outstanding Wilton High School students. High school mentors are matched with younger students in town, based on shared interests and with goals of becoming a positive influence for younger students, as they build new skills and confidence in academics, sports, music, art and wide range of extracurricular learning.

Role Model Mentors was founded by Ridgefield resident Tim Boylan. “We have been thrilled to have so many extraordinary high school mentors join our Wilton team. More than thirty outstanding Wilton High School students applied in the first two weeks, and we are still going strong” says Tim Boylan. “These are talented young adults who are motivated to become role models and positive influences in the lives of younger students in the community. “

Many of these students bring prior mentoring experience through sports coaching, peer tutoring programs and leadership roles during high school. Through the program, parents in search of a mentor simply enroll for a free phone consultation on the company’s website rolemodelmentors.com/enroll.

With Role Model Mentors, high schoolers are not just tutors. They bring an eclectic mix of experience in study skills and sports skills, well-honed homework habits and hobbies, math mastery and musical passions, world languages and a willingness to teach maker’s skills: how to build a robot, make a website or a film.

“Our family’s experience with mentoring has been 100% positive,” says Bob Llewellyn of Ridgefield. “Our eighth-grade son Tim’s first mentor, Matt, was the captain of the high school varsity soccer team. And as soccer is Tim’s favorite sport, it was a perfect match. Yet, along the way, the most important skill Matt shared with Tim had very little to do with soccer. He helped Tim understand how important strong study skills are in the life of a student athlete. The results for Tim were better time management, more focus on school work, and improved confidence in the classroom.”

Rolel Model Mentors offers Wilton parents an opportunity to enroll for a free consultation and a free trial session, which can be set up at rolemodelmentors.com/enroll or by calling 1-800-485-6013.
