Connecticut Weather: Don't Expect Much Snow Monday/Tuesday

Here's new details on whether we'll see any snow on Monday and Tuesday and a look at the next chance for accumulating snow in Connecticut.

Sorry students and teachers it doesn't look good for a snow day on Tuesday. The verdict on the potential for snow Monday night and Tuesday in Connecticut is don't expect much if anything. But there is a chance for some accumulating snow on Friday, according to a Connecticut meteorologist. Concerning the chance of snow Monday night and Tuesday, it's possible and still likely, that areas in southern Connecticut, especially the eastern part of the state, will see snowflakes but as of right now no real accumulation is expected anywhere.

Areas in far eastern Connecticut could see up to an inch of snow, the National Weather Service says. Hartford, Tolland and Litchfield counties aren't expected to see anything beyond flurries on Monday and Tuesday.

So it appears this latest snow chance will be a bust, but there is a chance for accumulating snow on Friday, says Exact Weather Now Meteorologist Kevin Arnone. In a blog post on his new weather site Sunday, Arnone writes, that computer models show the snow largely going out to sea Monday night and Tuesday.

"At this point, I think there is a better chance we see flurries rather than accumulating snow but I can't write it off just yet because any shift in tract would make a big difference," Arnone wrote. "If you're hoping for more snow, I think the better chance is Friday. Both the EURO and GFS have a low moving up towards Connecticut that COULD bring plowable snow across the state Friday afternoon."

The National Weather Service says to expect some light rain on Monday and then it could change to some light snow Monday night in southern Connecticut.
