Norwalk Man Arrested for Credit Card Fraud in Wilton

The arrest occurred on Nov. 9.

A 36-year-old man was charged with illegal use of a credit card, credit card fraud, identity theft and larceny in the fourth degree after he was stopped by police in Norwalk who determined there was a warrant for his arrest issued by Wilton Police.

Varun Yethirajam, who lives in Norwalk, allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase gift cards from Stop & Shop in Wilton earlier this year. Wilton Police then obtained a copy of security footage from the store and produced still frames from the video.

Following that, an informant came forward and and identified Yethirajam as the culprit. Police then scanned photos from the Department of Corrections and made a match.

Yethirajam was held on $5,000 bond and given a Nov. 19 court date.
