Arnold James Andronaco of Wilton, CT, peacefully passed away with family by his side on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021, at age 86. He was born in Norwalk, CT, on December 7, 1934 and grew up in New Canaan, where he attended local schools.
Answering to James, A.J., Jimmy, and most fondly, Poppy, he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Edisto, an icebreaker making Arctic and Antarctic crossings. But his life’s work and greatest satisfaction would be in helping his son, Brian, build an excavation and septic business of which he was immensely proud.
Poppy was a kind and loving soul who enjoyed life to the fullest. Most important to him was being a father to his four children, grandfather to ten grandchildren, and great grandfather. Here he was at his happiest – he was the greatest babysitter of all, caring for his grandchildren and sharing moments of importance and commonplace. His wit and wisdom, so generously supplied, will remain with his loving family and friends forever. A rich and lucky man in life and family he was.
