Opening Day Looms for Wilton High School Teams

WILTON, CT — High school sports practices have been ongoing for nearly two weeks and many preseason scrimmages have been played, but the real deal begins Thursday - opening day of the regular season for many varsity teams.

Here are the scheduled opening contests for varsity teams at Wilton High School. For a complete season schedule of Warrior varsity, JV and freshman teams, visit the CIAC web site.

• field hockey - Thursday, 9/6, vs. Trumbull, 6 p.m.
• girls soccer - Friday, 9/7, vs. New Canaan, 4 p.m.
• girls volleyball - Friday, 9/7, vs. New Milford, 5:45 p.m.
• football - Friday, 9/7, at Brien McMahon, 7 p.m.
• boys soccer - Saturday, 9/8, at New Canaan, noon
• cross country - Tuesday, 9/11, at St. Joseph, 4 p.m.
• girls swimming - Thursday, 9/13, at Fairfield Ludlowe, 4 p.m.
