WILTON, CT — Police have charged an employee of a Wilton early childhood education provider with the assault of a 6-month-old boy.
At around 11 a.m. on Feb. 9, the Wilton Police Department received a 911 call from The Goddard School regarding a child who was breathing but unresponsive.
Wilton Emergency Medical Services took the 6-month-old boy to Norwalk Hospital, where an initial medical evaluation determined the child had suffered a brain injury, according to police.

Later that day, the child was admitted to Yale New Haven Hospital. Over the next several days, doctors at Yale evaluated the 6-month-old and determined that the symptoms the child was experiencing were consistent with abusive head trauma, according to a news release from the Wilton PD.
"The investigation by the Wilton Police Department Detective Division determined that the 6-month-old child had arrived at the Goddard School happy and healthy. After napping, the child could not be roused, resulting in the 911 call. Further investigation determined that Amy Tingets, an employee of the Goddard School assigned to the infant room, was the only caregiver that had contact with the 6-month-old that day, prior to the 911 call," Lt. Gregg Phillipson wrote in the report.
