Security Task Force to Hold Special Meeting Wednesday

Security in our schools and public buildings is a critical issue facing our nation, our state and our town. The Board of Selectmen has created the Wilton Security Task Force and has charged the group “to further enhance the safety and security of all Wilton’s school children. The task force shall recommend measures to keep school children, staff and town employees safe.”
Chairman of the Task Force Harold E. Clark, Wilton Second Selectman, and Vice Chairman, Police Chief Michael Lombardo, have assembled a Wilton team with varied and specific security experience and backgrounds in Homeland Security, United Nations Security, Threat Assessment, education management and security, as well as police expertise.
Task force members include John Suchy, Terrie Schwartz, John Logan, Ken Post, John Murphy, Jory Higgins and Roseann DeSimone. The team has already met three times in the last three weeks where they reviewed the existing security assessments and police procedures in Wilton. In executive session, the task force also took a detailed security review tour of Comstock Community Center.

The public is invited to a special task force meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at the Comstock Community Center. The meeting will feature a guest presentation by Dr. S. David Bernstein, the president of Forensic Consultants, LLC. Dr. Bernstein is an expert in Threat Assessment, Corporate Risk Management, and Deceit Detection. He has held appointments at Yale University School of Medicine and Harvard University Medical School where he completed his residency in Forensic Psychology. He has also attended training with the United States Secret Service and currentlyserves a consultant for state and federal law enforcement agencies such as the FBI.
The Wilton Security Task Force will continue to review and evaluate the security of Wilton’s schools and public facilities, analyze security requirements and educate Wilton organizations and the community on security best practices.
