Connecticut Weather: 60s on Easter Sunday, Snowstorm Monday

Sorry, it really looks like the entire state of Connecticut will see accumulating snow on Monday morning. Here's how much to expect.

Apparently, this is no April Fool's joke. Somehow, someway, temperatures, which will approach 60 degrees on Easter Sunday, will plummet Sunday night into the upper 20s, which will allow for accumulating snow Monday morning.

In a bit of a switch from this morning, the National Weather Service is saying all parts of the state should see some accumulating snow from this quick-moving storm. Obviously, Monday's morning commute will be a challenge. I think the big question once again is, will this actually accumulate on roadways or largely on grassy surfaces?

Whatever snow does accumulate will be gone in an instant, as temps will moderate Monday afternoon into the mid 40s.

Here's the updated estimates from the National Weather Service. For Southern Connecticut, 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected to accumulate Monday morning and 1 to 3 inches of snow in Northern Connecticut.

For tonight, the weather service says, "temperatures do not drop as much with a southerly breeze ahead of an approaching cold front. Lows tonight in the mid 30s to near 40 will be a few degrees above normal for this time of year."

"Clouds will increase and a chance of mainly spotty rain showers will arrive late tonight, with the best chance for any showers over southeast Connecticut and eastern Long Island. The isolated to scattered showers should end by around midday as the cold front moves south of the region. Mild temperatures are expected Sunday with highs mainly in the mid 50s to lower 60s."

"However, a wave of low pressure will develop along the cold front and move to the Mid-Atlantic coast by Monday morning, then track well to the southeast of Long Island on Monday. This storm should
bring mainly snow to the region from late tonight into Monday morning. Temperatures are forecast to drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s early Monday, setting the stage for an early April snow event across the region during this timeframe...," the National Weather Service states.
