Special Weather Statement Issued For Southern Connecticut

The National Weather Service on Tuesday night issued a Special Weather Statement for Southern Connecticut.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The good news is that the Winter Weather Advisory for Southern Connecticut ends at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The bad news is that the National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for possibly icy conditions through Wednesday morning.

In a Special Weather Statement, the weather service says, "Patchy icy conditions possible through Wednesday morning...As the precipitation comes to an end across the area, surface temperatures will fall below the freezing mark this evening and tonight resulting in areas of black ice to develop.

"Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing until Wednesday morning. Use extra caution if traveling and be prepared for slippery road conditions. Use extreme caution if you encounter icy roads."

Connecticut could also see some snow showers on Wednesday afternoon too. Temps will drop into the low teens Wednesday night. Thursday and Friday also look very cold.
