WILTON, CT -- Quiet Lake Estate, an incredible 153-acre property that straddles Wilton and New Canaan, will be put up for auction next month, according to Westport-based Tranzon Auction Properties, in what is one of the more unique real estate auctions in Fairfield County in recent memory.

The stunning property - two-thirds of which rests in Wilton and one-third in New Canaan - is the former home of Leon Hirsch and ex-wife Turi Josefsen, who ran the controversial medical device company U.S. Surgical Corp., reports the New Canaan News. TD Bank acquired the property, located at 144 Huckleberry Hill Road in Wilton, this summer through foreclosure and turned to Tranzon to auction it.

The auction is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the site, and a $250,000 deposit (in certified funds) will be required in order to bid, according to Tranzon. And that deposit must be increased to equal 10 percent of the purchase price within five days of the auction.

Currently, realtor.com lists the property for sale for $15 million.

Among the estate's luxurious amenities are two helicopter landing areas; an eight-car garage; two, three-bedroom guest houses; an 8,000 square foot, seven paddock equestrian facility; and multiple ponds. The Tudor-style main house, built in 1926, measures 8,600 square feet.
