Town Of Wilton Publishes Coronavirus Update

March 29th - "On Thursday all residents 16 and up will be eligible to make an appointment for and receive the vaccine. Newly eligible residents total 1.1 million. Today the Governor announced 240,000 first dose vaccines are available next week. If all eligible residents choose to receive the vaccine, it will require 4.5 weeks for all to receive a first dose.

The Governor also announced accelerated access for unvaccinated residents with the following conditions: sickle cell disease, end stage rental disease, active cancer treatment, solid organ transplant, down syndrome and intellectual and development disabilities. The Department of Developmental Services will reach out to those with the latter conditions. Hospitals will be communicating regarding the remaining. We have no further details.

The State expects to hold high school Pfizer mobile van vaccines clinics for non-Alliance School Districts in May. Information will be forthcoming in late April. Mobile van clinics are required as municipalities do not have the capabilities to handle the Pfizer vaccine.

Wilton’s Health Department is holding a required second dose clinic this week for those who received their first dose during the first week of March.

Eversource Tree Trimming: Eversource is executing a year-long town-wide tree trimming plan for Wilton. A map of the streets being serviced is available here. If your street is included in the plan, you will be contacted by a representative from Lewis Tree Services prior to the start of any work. Please remember this is a calendar year plan with streets being scheduled throughout the year.

Public Hearings-FY2022 Proposed Budgets: Tonight and tomorrow evening, the Board of Finance is holding Public Hearings on the Board of Education and Board of Selectmen proposed budgets.

Vaccine & Case Information

Today CT DPH reported the following:

• 684, 200 residents are fully vaccinated
• 1,189,197 residents have received the first of a two-dose vaccine
• 80% of those aged 65 and up have received at least a first dose
• 61% of those aged 55 to 64 have received at least a first dose
• 38% of those aged 45 to 54 have received at least a first dose

Please practice the 5 W’s and behave as if you have the virus and as if those around you do as well.

• Watch your distance
• Wear a mask/face covering when you can’t maintain 6 feet of distance whether indoors or outside
• Walk, run or bike to the right in single file when passing another person on the NRVT, sidewalks and trails
• Wait to host indoor gatherings
• Wash your hands
