Wilton Business Spotlight: Chris Capelle - Macintosh Computer and Apple Products Expert
Our small business series shines a light on local business owners in the community.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. And that’s the belief behind this exciting series we’ve kicked off at Patch — to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.
Business: Chris Capelle – Macintosh Computer and Apple Products Expert
Owner: Chris Capelle

Address: 28 Stonecrop Lane Wilton, CT 06897
How did you come up with the name?
I kept it simple so people know what they’re getting. I added the “Apple Products” bit once everybody started owning iPhones and iPads.
Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?
That’s my house, it’s not really a business address. My office is virtual, I’m able to work wherever I go. A laptop and cell phone is all I need. And reliable transportation. As far as why this town, I would have to say it’s nice to work close to home. I’ve commuted to Manhattan in the past, but wouldn’t want to do that again.
Briefly, what business are you in?
Technology
What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?
I never like telling customers that their computer is dead. I feel like the vet telling a pet owner that he has to put their dog to sleep.
Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
There was one time when all I made was $125 in one week. That’s a lot of hours to think about how much I made when I had a full-time job.
What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
It’s the satisfaction of solving a problem. But it’s a lot of small moments, not one big one. Kind of like the checks I receive – by themselves, they’re small, but they add up quickly.
What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
Getting involved with social media. Facebook is a huge deal with the people I work with.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
I’m pretty easygoing and can deal with most anybody. In twenty years, I’ve only told three customers to find somebody else to work with.
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
Because I’m in charge of my own time, I can volunteer during normal business hours, so I’m involved in my children’s schools. Plus, my flexible schedule allows me to be with my kids while my wife is a volunteer EMT at WVAC.
