Wilton's own Nick Revel, a violist, improviser, composer, and educator who grew up K-12 in Wilton, CT, performs in a Wilton Library Connecticut's Own concert on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 5 p.m. The concert is free.

Nick has transformed his debut album, "Letters to My Future Self" released in January 2019 with all original compositions and improvisations, into a solo show filled with wild textures and layers not never heard before. His performance will take the audience on a musical journey through the inside of his mind and break preconceived notions of what a viola can do in a constantly morphing soundscape of genres. His electroacoustic viola will be augmented by a microphone and speakers, a powerful audio program, and intricately programmed auto-triggering loops and live-processing.

Nick is the founding violist of PUBLIQuartet which has been presented by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the MET Museum, the National Gallery, Carnegie Hall, Joyce Theater, Dizzy's Coca Cola Club, and Newport Jazz Festival. Collaborations include Benjamin Millepied, Björk, Paquito D’Rivera, and Billy Childs. Nick's award-winning 2017 commission, "In DayDream," premiered at Carnegie Hall in 2017. Nick has conducted improvisation workshops, co-developed the theory curriculum and chamber music program for the Talent Education Suzuki School, and co-created the New York String Studio.
