According to their investigation, the Audi was traveling south on Danbury Road in the left lane towards the intersection of Danbury Road and Cannon Road. The Audi then changed from the left lane of travel to the right lane of travel and accidentally cut off the pickup truck in the right lane. The Audi stayed in the right lane of travel while the pickup truck sped around it, cut in front of it, slammed on the brakes, and caused both vehicles to become completely stop on Danbury Road near the intersection with Catalpa Road. The driver of the pickup truck, Michael Kennedy, of Lee Lane in Redding, then exited his vehicle and approached the passenger side of the Audi, where there were juveniles located in the car. The driver of the Audi drove around Kennedy, continuing south on Danbury Road while attempting to call 911. Kennedy had struck the rear right door of the Audi with his fists as it drove around him.
Kennedy then got back into his pickup truck, chased the Audi down, cut in front of it, slammed on the brakes, and caused both vehicles to stop on Danbury Road for a second time. Kennedy had exited his car and was again approaching the Audi when officers arrived on scene.
