Wilton Residents to Vote On $118M Town, School Budgets Saturday

WILTON, CT — Residents and property owners will be voting Saturday on the 2021-22 spending plans proposed by the town elected officials and the Board of Education.
The Board of Selectmen is looking for $33,485,486 for the town, and the BOE seeks another $84,804,215 to run the schools.
The proposed town budget, which includes $1,275,233 in capital expenditures, is a 1.73 percent increase over the current spending plan. The ask from the Board of Education is a 2.99 percent increase over fiscal year 2020-21. If voters approve both budgets, the resulting mill rate of 27.86 will translate into a 1.48 percent tax increase for residents.

The town will also be asking residents on five projects for which they would need to borrow money: road restoration ($1,500,000), replacement of seven bridges ($538,000), a new Ariel Truck for the fire department ($1,450,000), replacement of the Middlebrook tennis courts ($350,000) and replacement of some school roofs ($600,000).
The in-person adjourned voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, at the Clune Center on 395 Danbury Road. A sample ballot may be found online here.
