Why start a business in this town?
We live a a busy community and most people have their lives filled with work, family and social commitments. My clients want to look great, but don’t necessarily have the time and/or interest in shopping. People around here also want, and deserve, exceptional quality and service without a huge price tag.

What business are you in?
As a personal stylist for the custom menswear company J. Hilburn, I’m dedicated to bringing personal style, character and class back to men.
What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?
Because I don’t have a storefront, getting my name and product out there has been my biggest challenge. I am constantly networking to meet new potential clients and partners whom I can mentor in this business. There’s also a stigma about having a personal stylist as being too expensive or extravagant. That’s not the case. I work within each client’s budget and lifestyle. What suits the 25 year old IT guy is not the same as what’s appropriate for the 45 year old finance executive, but both can benefit greatly from my guidance.
What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?
Happy clients who look and feel great! It’s amazing to see a client’s whole demeanor change when they try on their first custom shirt, made-to-measure suit, jacket, or even well fitting jeans. He instantly stands taller and has more confidence. I know my clients are happy long-term because a good part of my new business comes from the referrals they give me every time they’re complimented on how they’re dressed.
How does your business give back to the community?
I regularly donate to local organizations for their fund raisers. As an independent businesswoman, I value the need to give and receive support from our community.
