Wilton Teenager Becomes Author With First Release

A 16-year-old teen publishes her first novel.

It is not everyday when a teenager gets a novel published, and Claire Fraise is not an ordinary teenager. At only 16, her creative side is already starting to shine.

Fraise is the author of new young adult novel “Imperfect.” The novel is in the dystopian genre and was inspired by other books such as “Divergent” and “The Hunger Games,” according to her publicist Lindsey Hall at Finn Partners.

She is homeschooled, which has given her a flexible schedule to pursue this project.

Fraise said she was inspired to write a novel of this category after reading a lot in the same genre growing up.

“I wanted to write something I would enjoy as a reader.” Fraise told Patch.

Her parents have always been supportive and urged her to start her life early, said Fraise. She emphasized her belief of how important it is for parents to let their children know that everyone has a different path to follow and it is never too early to begin to follow their dreams.

“You do not have to wait to graduate college to start your life,” said Fraise, who believes there should not be any barriers for any young adult who wants to start following their dreams.

“It is cool to see my work in print and it feels like an out of body experience,” said Fraise.

Being able to share her book with others is the highlight of this milestone, said Fraise. She is thankful for the opportunity and to accomplish something of this nature, but her passion for simply sharing her writing and creativity with others means just as much to her, according to Fraise.

Her book can be purchased here.
