Boys Basketball Preseason Poll Released

Prior to the opening of the regular season Thursday, sports media members in Connecticut have chosen the top boys teams in the state.

CONNECTICUT — In the Division I boys basketball finals in March at Mohegan Sun Arena, East Catholic toppled Windsor to claim the championship. Windsor has exacted a small measure of payback heading into the regular season by capturing 19 of 20 first-place votes to lead the preseason poll of Connecticut media members.

Here are the top 10, as well as all other programs collecting votes.

  3. Sacred Heart
  4. Bassick
  5. Hillhouse
  6. Notre Dame-West Haven
  7. Immaculate
  8. Trinity Catholic
  9. Waterford
  10. Norwich Free Academy

Also receiving votes: Crosby, Old Lyme, Wilbur Cross, Prince Tech, Hamden, Naugatuck, Trumbull, Fitch, Weaver, Granby, Fairfield Warde, Glastonbury, Farmington, Wamogo, New Canaan, New Britain, Northwest Catholic, Bristol Central, Newtown, Bunnell, Kolbe Cathedral, Danbury, Holy Cross, Sheehan, West Haven, Ridgefield, Waterbury Career Academy.
