Family Members Of Windsor Murder Victim Involved In Court Melee

The father and brother of a 16-year-old victim were involved in the dispute with the man accused of murder.

WINDSOR, CT - Family members of a slain Windsor teenager attempted to attack the man accused of killing him in Hartford Superior Court, according to The Journal-Inquirer. Isaiah Benitez, 22, was being arraigned on charges of murder and carrying a pistol without a permit in connection with the death of 16-year-old Felipe Lopez.

Lopez's father, Juan, lunged toward Benitez but court marshals intervened. Marshals recommended he be charged with breach of peace, according to The Journal-Inquirer. Felipe's brother, Jose, was also involved in the incident.

Felipe Lopez was found April 24 in a crashed vehicle with gunshot wounds near 800 Albany Avenue.

Lopez was a student in a program LP Wilson. He was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and didn't have a license. The car wasn't stolen. His family told NBC that he may have been driving for Uber.

Felipe Lopez and Benitez knew each other prior to the incident. According to reports, they agreed to meet up and a dispute followed.
