Largest Fastpitch Softball Park in Northeast US Coming to Windsor
Eleven-Field Complex to Open in April 2019

Construction has begun on what will be the largest dedicated fastpitch softball complex in the Northeast United States. Bulldozers and backhoes are clearing land at 1001 Day Hill Road in Windsor, Conn. for the new Fastpitch Nation Park. The 11-field complex will open this coming Spring and will host its first tournament on April 27-28, 2019.
The 21-acre Fastpitch Nation Park will feature 11 regulation fully-fenced fastpitch fields and a 3,200-sq.-ft. building for retail, storage and real bathrooms with 11 stalls for women and 7 for men. The state-of-the-art complex will also feature weather-resilient red Alabama shale infields, natural turf outfields and 100’ wide panoramic netted backstops for the best spectator viewing. Some of the other amenities include ample paved parking, LED scoreboards, spacious covered dugouts, more than 3 acres of team warm-up space, an outdoor food court, free wi-fi and live internet streaming of all games played. While the majority of the field usage will be for youth girls’ softball tournaments and leagues, baseball events for boys age 12 and under also is planned, when space allows.
“Youth girls’ fastpitch softball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and has far outgrown the number of Connecticut fields available for tournaments,” explains David Rocha, a Simsbury resident who is responsible for more than 40 USSSA tournaments every year. “For example, almost a third more teams from nine states played in our 2018 USSSA Northeast National Girls’ Fastpitch Softball Championship in July. This new complex will allow us to host more teams, play more games and all in one fantastic location, unlike anything else in the region. Otherwise, teams would need to travel to the South, Midwest or Far West for any similar venue.”
