New Windsor Police Chief Sworn In
Donald Melanson just wrapped up a 20-year career with the West Hartford Police Department.

On Monday, Donald Melanson was sworn in as the new police chief, reports WFSB.
Melanson is a 20-year veteran of the West Hartford department and has been captain since 2010. He was heading up the investigative division in addition to the training and traffic divisions.

According to the Hartford Courant, at the beginning of his career, he also spent a year with the Manchester Police Department.
As a lieutenant, Melanson, whose brother Paul is the Farmington Police Chief, also held leadership roles in community relations and school programs and the special operations team.

Melanson will replace Kevin Searles, who retired in December after 28 years as chief.
