Several Nooses Found At Windsor Amazon Construction Site

Police are investigating following the discovery of several nooses at an Amazon construction site in Windsor.

WINDSOR, CT — Police are investigating after several nooses were found at an Amazon construction site in Windsor. The initial incident occurred when police were dispatched to the 1201 Kennedy Road site Tuesday afternoon on a report of suspicious activity.

A construction company supervisor reported that earlier Wednesday a hangman's noose was discovered hanging from a steel beam on the second floor of the building, police said. The incident was documented and a site safety team removed and discarded the noose.

The area where the noose was found is not monitored by surveillance cameras and is accessible to hundreds of employees from various companies.

Then on Wednesday afternoon, Windsor officers responded to a second report of a rope that was thrown around a beam. This second incident was not a noose, police said.

Police responded again to the site Thursday morning when detectives were notified that five additional ropes that could be interpreted as nooses were located at various locations on different floors throughout the building. These ropes were collected as evidence and will undergo testing to identify potential suspects.

There are no suspects at this time.

There were no other messages, markings, or other forms of communication in or around the facility that would provide information as to any intent or target of these nooses, police said.

The general contractor of the construction site is cooperating fully with law enforcement, according to police. The contractor held a full site safety meeting to discuss the initial incident on Wednesday. They also conducted an anti-discrimination / discrimination awareness training session with all employees on site.

They have also offered a $5,000 reward for any information that would identify the person/persons responsible for these incidents.
