Student Artwork Shines at Windsor Historical Society
The Society's collaboration with Windsor High's advanced-placement art students has produced 'Building Bridges,' a new historically-inspired exhibition which is open through May 1.
Nearly one hundred gathered at the Windsor Historical Society Jan. 9 in celebration of Building Bridges, the Society's three-year collaborative exhibition of historically-inspired artwork produced by Windsor High students.
According to the Society, 13 students contributed pieces of art that traversed the art media spectrum — artwork inspired by architectural elements found in Windsor's Historic District, Palisado Cemetery and Broad Street Green.
The Jan. 9 ceremony saw each student present statements accompanying their works, followed by a conversation"about the role of art and architecture, the importance of art education and historic preservation, and how a community can contribute to a sense of place that permeates through all aspects of a community," the Society said in a statement.
The students' work will be on display through March 1.
The Windsor Historical Society is open from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Wednesday - Saturday. General admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and free for children under the age of 12 and Society members.
