Suspect In Murder Of 16-Year-Old Windsor Boy Arrested

A Hartford man has been arrested in the murder of a Windsor teen.

WINDSOR, CT - Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of Felipe Lopez, 16, of Windsor, according to WTNH. Isaiah Benitez, 22, of Hartford, is in custody on $750,000 bail related to a case from March.

He is also being held on murder and carrying a pistol without a permit charges on $1.5 million bond, NBC Connecticut reported.

Lopez and Benitez knew each other prior to the incident. According to reports, they agreed to meet up and a dispute followed.

Lopez was found April 24 in a crashed vehicle with gunshot wounds near 800 Albany Avenue.

Lopez was a student in a program LP Wilson. He was driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and didn't have a license. The car wasn't stolen. His family told NBC that he may have been driving for Uber.

Lopez's family said he recently became a father and was going to start a new job at Dunkin Donuts Wednesday.

Benitez will appear in court Friday, according the NBC Connecticut.
