Windsor Resident's Christmas Tree & Holiday Festival Open House
Open First 3 December Weekends to benefit Windsor Food & Fuel Bank
Windsor resident George Saponare has been collecting an extensive variety of holiday collectibles, decorated trees, and enchanting art and giftware for more than five decades. For the past few years, Saponare has opened the entire interior of his home at 234 Kenswick La. in Windsor’s Ballymeade development so the public can come and enjoy this unique, two-story display. This year, his Christmas Tree & Holiday Festival Open House will be held the first three Saturdays and Sundays of December (Dec. 1 & 2, Dec. 8 & 9, and Dec. 15 & 16) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Instead of an admission fee, people are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or monetary donations for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank.
Discover why Saponare’s ever-growing collection is essentially a festive museum of holiday treasures for people of all ages. Almost every inch of every room features colorful and special items including 26 fully trimmed trees decorated in different themes, collections of Santas, animated animals, and colorful holiday ornaments, table displays and artwork. Even the bathrooms and laundry room are decorated!
“I began setting up the displays early in September and can’t wait to share them with everyone in the holiday spirit,” explains Mr. Saponare, who began his festive collecting when he was a boy in Hartford’s South End. “This open house has become a holiday tradition for a growing number of Greater Hartford residents who return every year and bring new friends. I look forward to welcoming many first-time visitors this year and encourage everyone to bring food items or donations for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank, so we can help others who need a hand this holiday season.”
