Windsor Residents Encouraged to Donate Blood During Liver Awareness Month
Find out where you can give blood near Windsor for patients undergoing liver and other types of transplants during Liver Awareness Month.

The American Red Cross is encouraging all eligible donors to give blood to support patients undergoing liver and other types of transplants during During Liver Awareness Month in October.
According to a release, liver transplants are the second most common type of transplant in the U.S.A. A single transplant patient could use over 30 units of blood products. There’s an urgent need for O-, A-, B- and AB donors.
Not sure if you’re eligible to donate blood? Check out the requirements below.
Blood donors must:
- Be in good general health and feeling well*
- Be at least 17-years-old in most states, or 16-years-old with parental consent if allowed by state law – see more information for 16-year-old donors »
- Weigh at least 110 lbs.
Additional weight requirements apply for donors 18-years-old and younger and all high school donors. Click here for weight requirements for young donors.
* Note: Healthy means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes, healthy also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control. If you are not feeling well on the day of your donation, please contact us to reschedule.
