EAST WINDSOR, CT — On the first try, East Windsor residents overwhelmingly approved the town's $41,826,779 budget proposal for the 2021-22 fiscal year, with 517 of 727 voters, or 71 percent in favor. With the approval comes a slight decrease in the tax rate, from 34.72 mills to 34.50.

Residents also approved, by a 551 to 172 margin, an appropriation of $3.5 million to repay the town’s outstanding debt.

In recent years, initial budgets have failed at referendum; on four occasions in the past six years, the budget was rejected three times, prompting an automatic increase of 2 percent, per statute.
