Car Ran Out Of Gas Before Train Crash In Windsor Locks
Police said a driver left his car when it ran out of gas, then was struck by a train.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A driver had left his car after it ran out of gas when the vehicle was struck by a passing Amtrak train, according to police. The Monday incident occurred when the car was passing the Route 140 bridge going westbound onto Main Street.
The car ran out of gas and remained partially on the tracks. He left his vehicle to get gas and returned to find it had been struck by a northbound passenger train, police said.
There were no injuries but the bridge, trains, and Main Street were all affected by traffic slowdowns and re-routing. WLPD responded and immediately initiated a shutdown of train rail traffic and the bridge.
