Honors and Awards For Windsor Locks/East Windsor College Students

WINDSOR LOCKS/EAST WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Goodwin University, East Hartford CT

• Goodwin University announces 1,128 students achieved Dean's list status for the fall 2020 session. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify. Local honorees were Joshua Dempsey and Victoria Iacolino, both of East Windsor, and Nahia Alnaimi, Amanda Burke, Julie Martin, Heather McAbee-Sevick, Malarie Mikalonis, Chau Nguyen and Tyrone Reid, all of Windsor Locks.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

• Bryan J. McLennan of Windsor Locks has been inducted into St. Lawrence University's chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society for being an outstanding college student-athlete who excels in the classroom, in their sport, and in the community. McLennan is a member of the Class of 2022 and is majoring in economics. He attended Suffield Academy and is a member of the men's golf team at St. Lawrence. Students are nominated for inclusion in this society by their head coaches for their contributions to their team, for their moral character, and for having achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher.

University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg MS

• Mikayla Patterson of Windsor Locks was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Patterson is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

• Joshua Conniff, of Windsor Locks, is among more than 500 students named to the Western New England University fall 2020 President's List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.80 or higher. Conniff is working toward a degree in Business.
