Superintendent of Schools Shawn Parkhurst informed families of the changes in the following letter, sent Wednesday night.

Dear WLMS & WLHS Staff and Families,
I hope that this communication finds you and your family well. At this evening’s Board of Education meeting, the Board, under the recommendation of the District Steering Committee, voted to change the structure of the hybrid model at Windsor Locks Middle School and Windsor Locks High School effective Monday, December 7, 2020.
Beginning Monday, December 7, 2020, WLHS will shift to a two day in person and three day remote learning model;WLMS will implement this change on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, after the conclusion of the current period of full remote learning. The rationale for this change is that in reviewing and monitoring our student engagement, attendance, academic and social emotional well-being, a shift to allow for more frequent teacher/student connection is essential.
The logistics of this shift will be communicated to you directly from Ms. Aldred and Mr. Prinstein early on Friday; they will outline the schedules, the cohorts (which are not changing), and the shift of Wednesday being a full remote day for all learners.
I realize that this may cause some hardship for families and I encourage you, as always, to reach out to your respective building administrators for assistance. Thank you in advance for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Shawn L. Parkhurst
Superintendent of Schools
