I-91 Motor Vehicle Accident In East Windsor Closes Highway

EAST WINDSOR, CT — Traffic on Interstate 91 southbound under the Exit 44 off-ramp overpass, just before the Dexter Coffin Bridge, came to a halt Saturday afternoon due to a motor vehicle accident.

The southbound side of the highway was closed for about 30 minutes, and traffic backed up several miles into Enfield. The accident appeared to involve multiple vehicles.

The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m., and a single lane for traffic opened around 2 p.m. Traffic congestion spilled onto neighboring state routes 140 and 5.
