New England Air Museum's April Break Activities!
Fun, Entertaining and Innovating activities for the whole family in Windsor Locks.
The Museum’s Flight Sim Spot will be open each of these days between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The Flight Sim Spot allows visitors to use state-of-the-art simulators with real cockpit controls.
Monday, April 13th & Tuesday, April 14th- Fantastic Flying Machines LEGO Contest. Step into a room full of LEGOs and let your creativity take wings. The program is for ages 3-12 and will run from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for each age category: 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Winners do not need to be present to win.
Wednesday, April 15th, Parachute Drop- Design a parachute that will remain airborne for as long as possible and dropped within a landing zone from the very top of one of our giant aircraft hangers.

Thursday, April 16th, Open Cockpit- The Museum will host an Open Cockpit program allowing you to experience the right stuff! Up to 6 aircraft will be open including helicopters, jet fighters and WWII aircraft. All cockpits will close at 4:00 p.m.
Friday, April 17th, Aero Modeling Workshop. Build your own flying machine and give it a test flight through our massive hanger. Program runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. This activity takes about an hour and a half to complete. Children ages 8-14 can build and fly their own models. All children must be accompanied by an adult. There is a $5.00 cost for the kit.

Monday, April 20th– Wednesday, April 22nd- Open Cockpits & Museum Tours– View and sit in the cockpit of 2-4 aircraft and tour the Museum with our knowledgeable docents.
Thursday, April 23rd– Great LEGO Race- Build a vehicle out of LEGO bricks that can race down a ramp. The quickest wins! The program is for ages 3-12 and will run from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for each age category: 3-5, 6-8 & 9-12. Winners do not need to be present to win.
Friday, April 24th- Straw Rocket Competition-Using a compressed air launcher, design a rocket built around a drinking straw and launch it to a specific target.
Activities are included with the price of admission on the day of your visit except where noted. Each day docents will be on hand to provide information and to interact with the visitors.
