Picture East Windsor - Then And Now
An old photograph and brief story from East Windsor's past, and how that site appears today.

EAST WINDSOR, CT — This edition of this periodic informal history series, highlighting buildings from East Windsor's past and what those locations look like today, finds us back inside the pages of a great picture book called Images of America: East Windsor. Released in 2017, the book was compiled by Ceil Donahue and Jessica Bottomley for the East Windsor Historical Society.
On page 74 s a 1920s view of a small business in Broad Brook called Jim's Filling Station on Mill Street, alongside Chestnut Brook. Owner James Loftus sold Lydol and Vedol gasolines, and also did auto repairs. Next to the building was a small park area which hosted practice sessions for the Broad Brook Fife and Drum Crops, and where horseshoe pits were located.
The address is now 13 Mill Street, which contains a multi-family home today, as seen in this recent view from Google Maps.
