Picture Windsor Locks - Then And Now

An old photo and brief story from Windsor Locks history, and how that site appears today.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — We return today to the great photo book Images of America: Windsor Locks, compiled by Leslie Matthews Stansfield in 2003. On page 115, we find an aerial view of Main St. looking northwest over the Montgomery Mill building, taken just prior to the downtown redevelopment project of the early 1970s.

Save for the historic train station at the far right, none of these buildings survive today. In their places are small shopping plazas and the Windsor Locks Senior Center.

Here is a more contemporary look at the area, courtesy of Google Maps.
