Picture Windsor Locks - Then And Now
An old photo and brief story from Windsor Locks history, and how that site appears today.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — For today's look back in time at Windsor Locks history, we make our first foray into the great photo book Images of America: Windsor Locks, compiled by Leslie Matthews Stansfield in 2003. The initial offering is a building which looks pretty much the same now as it did in this undated photo: the former Union School at 50 Church Street.
According to town property records, the building was constructed in 1955, and served as a school until the late 1970s. A town office needs study committee, formed in 1979 and headed by First Selectman Edward Savino and chaired by Joel Levin, recommended converting the school into Town Hall. The process was completed in 1981.

Here is a contemporary photo of the building, taken recently by yours truly.
