Suspect In Windsor Locks Homicide Captured In West Haven
A Hartford man who eluded authorities for nearly a month following the June 24 shooting death of a teenager in Pesci Park has been captured.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — A Hartford man who eluded authorities for nearly a month following the June 24 shooting death of a teenager in Pesci Park was captured Thursday in West Haven, Lt. Paul Cherniack said.
Daniel Baez, 22, had been sought in connection with the slaying of Elijah Ortega, 16, who was unarmed when he was gunned down during a confrontation in the park. Within two days of the slaying, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Baez.
New information led police to search for Baez Thursday in West Haven. He was spotted inside a building, and as he appeared to be leaving, he was taken into custody without incident, Cherniack said.
