For decades, it was THE place to go in the area for a spectacular party or family event.
La Renaissance was just as glamorous as its name. Even now when mentioned it evokes tales of overindulgence in prime rib or chicken cordon bleu from former staff and hours upon hours of laughter and good cheer from past patrons.
Earlier this week, word spread that the popular banquet facility Prospect Hill Road (Route 5) is in foreclosure, a sale set for April 27.

In July 2012, Peoples United Bank filed paperwork with the state superior court claiming that the property owners and holders of two mortgages owed the bank more than $2.2 million, according to court documents.
Worried and angry people posted on social media, speculating and venting about the injustice of having the owners accept their money without telling them of the financial struggles.

Owners of other banquet facilities started to follow the commentary, starting to post their own information and inviting patrons to switch their location.
