Warrant Issued For Windsor Locks Murder Suspect
Police have obtained a warrant for Daniel Baez, 22, of Hartford, in connection with the June 24 shooting death of a Windsor Locks student.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a 22-year-old Hartford man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a teenager in Pesci Park last week.
Daniel Phillip Baez, also known as Daniel Knight, stands 6 feet tall, weighs 160-170 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair. He has a scar on his left arm, police said.
Police said on June 24, an argument in the park resulted in shots being fired and Elijah Ortega, 16, a Windsor Locks High School student-athlete, was struck and killed. Police said the shots came from a pistol; police said Ortega was not armed.

The Windsor Locks Police Department charged Baez with murder, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit. Bail was set at $1 million.
Police said Baez is known to carry and use a firearm, and the pistol used in the shooting has not been recovered.
