Windsor Locks Middle School Shut Down For 2 Weeks
Two members of the school community tested positive for coronavirus, prompting officials to switch to all remote learning for two weeks.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Students at Windsor Locks Middle School were dismissed at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, and will operate in a remote learning-only environment through Nov. 4 after two members of the school community tested positive for coronavirus.
In a letter to parents and staff members, Superintendent of Schools Shawn Parkhurst said the "affected persons have been instructed to remain home and quarantine for 14 days." He said one of the affected persons was last in the school on Oct. 16, and the other on Wednesday.

Dear Windsor Locks Middle School Parents and Staff,
Earlier today, October 22, 2020, the Windsor Locks Public Schools was notified that 2 members of our school community tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The affected persons have been instructed to remain home and quarantine for 14 days. Due to potential widespread exposure, Windsor Locks Middle School will be dismissed at 11:15 am today, including all students and staff. Bus transportation will be provided at 11:15 am, or students can be picked up in the regular location. This plan does not impact Pine
Meadow Academy, which will remain open.
Beginning tomorrow, WLMS will be operating in a remote environment which will last through November 4, 2020. A schedule for WLMS Remote Learning will be shared electronically with all families today, Thursday, October 22nd.
All students of WLMS will be able to participate in our grab and go meal program. Tomorrow, October 23 only, WLMS will host grab and go meal pickup from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm., which will include meals through Monday. Beginning, Tuesday, October 27 the grab and go will move to WLHS, with pickup on Tuesdays and Thursday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. The last days the affected people were at Windsor Locks Middle School were (Person 1) October 16th and (Person 2) October 21st. We have not received any other reports of students or staff members experiencing illnesses with symptoms resembling those of COVID-19. Anyone considered in “close contact” with the affected people will be contacted by school or local health officials today (Thursday, 10/22) and provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take. Close contact is being within 6 feet for 15 minutes or
longer in duration.
