$1.9 Million Settlement Reached In Woodbury Crash
The settlement was reached between the insurance company of the Good News Cafe and a woman injured in a crash.
WOODBURY, CT — A Woodbury woman settled a lawsuit against the Good News Cafe for $1.9 million after she was injured in a crash by one of the restaurant’s waitresses.
Christina Robinson worked a shift at the cafe April 16, 2018, according to the lawsuit. Later that night she got into a crash with plaintiff Loreta Vaichus on Middlebury Road. Robinson veered into oncoming traffic and crashed into Vaichus’ vehicle. Robinson died after the crash and Vaichus sustained several injuries, including lacerations to some of her internal organs and the removal of her spleen.
The lawsuit alleged that Robinson consumed alcohol at the cafe during and/or after her shift.

Robinson’s BAC level was .16, according to the Republican-American. Good News Cafe owner Carole Peck told the Republican-American that Robinson wasn’t served alcohol during or after her shift and she was disappointed the lawsuit was settled because the cafe wasn’t responsible for her after she left the establishment.
