2 Killed In Crash On I-84 In Middlebury
Two people were killed and three others were hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash on I-84 in Middlebury, according to police.
MIDDLEBURY, CT — Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on I-84 in Middlebury, according to Connecticut State Police. The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on April 9 near Exit 17 on I-84 East in Middlebury.
Police said a Chevy Cobalt was seen traveling at a high rate of speed before losing control. The vehicle was being driven by Elijah Christopher Veness, 19, of Waterbury. He was hospitalized with a suspected minor injury, according to police.
Kayla Nicole Veness, 18, of Plymouth, and Daniel B. Veness Jr., 20, of Waterbury, were both killed in the crash. They were taken to Waterbury Hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to police.

Daniel B. Veness Sr., 45, of Danbury, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with a suspected serious injury, according to police. Another passenger, 24-year-old Julio Cuevas was also taken to St. Mary’s for treatment of a suspected serious injury, police said.
