Arresting News: Stealing One Cart of Groceries Too Many

A thwarted drug deal and an alleged fight over cereal, plus an alleged theft of groceries at the Southbury Stop & Shop, are just three of the items in this week's round-up of unusual police news.

 

A woman allegedly stuffed two shopping carts full of stolen groceries into her car, and was pushing a third to her vehicle, when spotted by police at Southbury Stop & Shop.

A female bar patron allegedly threw a drink at a bartender at a Monroe restaurant during an argument over her tab. Then moments after she walked outside, a rock came crashing through the dining room window. She was arrested for breach of peace, but only for the drink.

A Bronx, NY man was busted with bogus bills—$100 bills to be exact after Greenwich Police received complaints he tried to use them to make purchases in three local businesses. He was caught approaching a fourth store—with more of the fake C-notes, police said.

An Ansonia man who allegedly slipped out of his jacket and sweater while running from Trumbull Police was Tased. He's accused of shoplifting and was allegedly wearing two pairs of stolen pants under his own.

Another woman allegedly filled her purse with stolen items from Lord & Taylor in Trumbull.

Two Bridgeport men were arrested after a Westport resident interrupted a burglary at his home. The men told the homeowner that they were looking for a landscaping job.

Sensing something suspicious was going on, a Fairfield resident thwarted a drug deal by hiding 18 baggies of pot left by a stranger on the dead-end of the resident's street. The resident hid the pot in a drainage culvert.

A 44-year-old West Haven woman reportedly struck her boyfriend while he was driving so he dropped her off at the police station to be arrested — on Valentine's Day.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested in Stamford when she and her 19-year-old sister were involved in a physical altercation over cereal. Police allegedly had to restrain the suspect from going after the victim at the scene. No word on what brand of cereal kicked off the fight.

An unidentified person broke into the Norwalk Courthouse Sunday night, though nothing appeared to be stolen. The suspect apparently entered the building through a broken window.

A New Canaan police officer has been placed on administrative leave after accusations that the officer got into a fight at a downtown restaurant while off-duty.
