Boots & Britches Virtual Auction
The Boots & Britches Virtual Auction will be online September 21 - October 5, with items ranging from fine art to fun experiences up for bid

A virtual auction will replace this year’s Boots & Britches BBQ, a popular annual fundraiser for Little Britches Therapeutic Riding. From September 21 to October 5, anyone with access to a computer will be able to bid online for items ranging from fine art to fun experiences.
All proceeds from the Boots & Britches Virtual Auction will benefit Little Britches, a local nonprofit that helps kids and adults with special needs discover their strengths though horseback riding. In order to keep rider fees affordable, the organization relies on grants, donations and fundraising events.
“COVID-19 restrictions forced us to cancel our Boots & Britches BBQ, so we’ve reimagined the event,” explains Little Britches president Janie Larson. “This virtual auction will help ensure that our program continues to serve the community.”
One item up for bid is an overnight stay at a private lake house, with swimming, boating, waterskiing, dinner and breakfast included. Other offerings include a private restorative outdoor yoga session, dinner for six professionally prepared at your home, and a professional photo shoot.
The full listing, online at http://littlebritchesauction.o... on September 21, includes much more--works by local artists, food and wine baskets, decorative tableware, gift cards and a range of items and services from area businesses.
Despite the pandemic, Little Britches is continuing its program at its Roxbury location this fall, following best practices to help keep all participants safe. For more information go to the group’s website (littlebritchesct.org) or call Little Britches at 860-350-5050.
About Little Britches:
Founded in 1979 by Peg Sweeney and Betty Lou McColgin, Little Britches aims to change the lives of people with disabilities using the movement of the horse. Riders have a variety of disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, Downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, dyspraxia, oppositional defiance, visual impairment and auditory impairment. Some riders are wheelchair bound and experience independence for the first time on the backs of our horses. Little Britches provides an opportunity for students to participate in a sport; they are no longer spectators sitting on the sidelines. They are riders in the center of the ring — they become sports stars.
