WATERTOWN, CT — A 5-year-old boy was hospitalized after being hit by a driver in an SUV Monday morning in Watertown, according to multiple reports.

WTNH News 8 reports police believe the boy was chasing his dog when he ran in front of the vehicle. The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Main Street, Oakville, in the area of Rockdale Avenue.

The child was taken to Waterbury Hospital with a head injury and his condition was unknown as of Monday afternoon, according to FOX 61.

Police said the driver wasn’t impaired and did not appear to be speeding, FOX 61 reports.
