Costs Adding Up to Remediate Contaminants at Woodbury Transfer Station: Report

Contaminants have been discovered on three separate occasions in the past month.

WOODBURY, CT — Contaminants have been detected in the 500-gallon used motor oil receptacle at the Woodbury transfer station, and the cost of cleaning them out is beginning to add up, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

Cleaning the tank costs the town about $900, officials say, and so far Woodbury has spent more than $2,500 on such efforts.

Contaminants have been found in the tank on three separate occasions in the past month, which required cleaning out. The contaminants have been solvents, cleaners or non-oil liquids such as brake cleaner, according to the publication.
